Here's what you must do to participate in the Electric Checks Check Representment Program:

  • Post a sign at the point-of-sale, on a contract, invoice, credit application or receipt stating that the returned check amount will be electronically debited along with a collection fee from the check writer's account. Electric Checks will provide you with signage.
  • Authorize your bank, using the Bank Authorization Statement, to mail your NSF checks to Electric Checks. This assures that your check will be represented immediately after receipt by Electric Checks.
  • Send Electric Checks the Agreement and a voided business check from the account where you wish your collected funds deposited.
  • It's that easy. Never worry about collecting returned checks again.

Checks Eligible for Representment:

  • Returned NSF (nonsufficient funds) checks or UCF (uncollected funds)
  • Less than $2500
  • Dated 180 days or less
  • No more that two previous presentments

Other NACHA Requirements:

  • Each ACH entry for a returned check must be the face value of the check. The check amount can't be used to charge the customer a collection fee.

Check Facts:
Did you know? According to Federal Reserve Statistics, the average
check amount in 1998 was greater than $700.
